What is happening? NYC new mayor used an executive order to consolidate all the city’s technology departments to promote the use of civic technology .

Why is this important? For NYC that means the following agencies will be consolidated:

• New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications
• Mayor’s Office of Data Analytics
• Mayor’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer
• Mayor’s Office of Information Privacy
• New York City Cyber Command
• Algorithms Management and Policy Office
• NYC 311

How will this be important? Information sharing issues emerged during the pandemic, and the goal of the consolidation will be increase accountability.
