Meet Maine Technology Asset Fund

What is happening? The Maine Technology Asset Fund is a state-funded $45 million business development program that has served almost 30 Maine companies since 2019. The kicker- it’s allegedly steeped in privacy with very little public information.

Why is this important? The lack of public disclosure was enshrined in 1999 when the program was created. Now, the Legislature looks to review it and see what light needs to shine.

How will this be important? The grant program requires recipient companies to make investments, the program is capped at a certain amount, and receive payments based on performance.
