State Data Privacy Constitutional Amendment

What’s happening? Maine is considering a constitutional amendment that would clarify that privacy, including digital privacy is a constitutional right.

Why is this important? By defining data as a privacy right, it triggers warrant requirements.

How will this be important? NCSL says 13 states have adopted a privacy right in their constitutions. These states include New Hampshire, Missouri and Michigan.
