The Institute for Justice released a study on the cost of compensating property owners for property damage by law enforcement. They say that compensating property damage would not impact local budgets.
90% of damage is caused to property owned by someone who was not the subject of law enforcement action.
“ “What we found is that local governments frequently refuse to compensate property owners, even though they could easily afford to make worthy owners whole.”
The issue is before the U.S. Supreme Court.
