+1 Data Center Executive Order

This week, Pennsylvania Governor issued a new Executive Order concerning data centers and energy use. Messaging focused on the state’s responsibility to protect rate payers.

The Order “implements his Governor’s Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) requirements, requires prospective developers to provide a notice of intent to comply with the safeguards — which include requiring that firms pay for all electricity costs associated with their facilities and mandating they get a significant portion of that power from clean energy sources.”

The consequence for not complying with the Executive Order? No permit approvals until local land use approvals are obtained.
