  • Acquire clean water to use in the fracking process and drilling
  • Dispose of flowback water & produced water
  • Since 2013, oil & gas companies, can recycle water for fracking uses
  • Companies can purchase treated wastewater from municipalities, like in Odessa, TX
• Communities may have a better perception of companies that use recycled or wastewater
• A factor in oil and as company water use is risk avoidance, water contamination fines are steep
