Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) May infrastructure update in May:

  • 2.1 GW of new gas capacity
    • total capcity of 2,455 MW
    • 85% share of new resources
  • fossil fuels’ share of energy consumption in 2017 was 80%
  • 6,646 MW of new gas year to May
    • 1,956 MW of wind capacity for the year
    • 1,921 MW of new solar for the year
    •  total installed capacity in 2018 sits at about 43.5%
      • coal (23%) total installed capacity
      • nuclear (9%)
      • hydro (8.5%)
      • wind, (7.7%)
      • oil (3.5%)
      • solar (2.8%)
