Solar installations post-Hurricane Maria have doubled.
- From September 2017 to September 2018 10,000 residential solar plus battery storage systems installed
- Before then there was a total of 12,000 solar systems
- 22 cents per kilowatt-hour in Puerto Rico
- these high energy costs are said to drive push to renewables
- Current Mix of Puerto Rico’s energy supply:
- 3% renewable
- 1% hyrdo power
- 45% from petroleum
- 34% from natural gas
- 17% from coal
