A new report from BloombergNEF found that the cost of building gas generation has increased by 66% and takes 23% more time to build. In 2023 the the cost to build a kw of generating capacity was $1500 & in 2025 it rose to $2157.

The need for additional capacity is tied to data centers and AI.
