+1 Super Small City for Franchise Fees for Internet

What’s happening? Fort Scott, KS and its 8000 population have seen a decline in cable taxes so to make up for it, they want to implement a franchise fee for internet services like Netflix.

Why is this important? Local governments in  Missouri, Texas and Ohio are also pursuing a tax on streaming services.

How will this be important? If trends that show cable subscribers era decreasing that loss of revenue to local governments will have to be offset somehow.
