Ballot Prop: Recreational Cannabis

What is happening? Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri, North Dakota, and South Dakota will all have recreational cannabis on their ballot on November 8th. The proposed tax schemes are:

• Arkansas: 10% supplemental sales tax 
• Maryland: Legislature would set the tax rate
• Missouri:  6% tax on the retail price 
• North Dakota: unknown, looks like the state’s 5% tax rate but could be legislative set. lots of unknowns.
• South Dakota: up to the Legislature

Why is this important? 19 states have approved recreational cannabis at this point.
