City Adopts Child Savings Account Program and a Guaranteed Income Pilot

What is happening? Atlanta is testing out a new child savings account and guaranteed income program.

Why is this important? Child Savings Account Program offers a one-time deposit of $50 into an educational savings account for Atlanta Public Schools kindergarteners from low-income households. This program will be a partnership with  Operation HOPE, Inc. to establish the program along with a $2 M contribution from the City.

The guaranteed income pilot will be a pilot partnership with the City and a  Urban League of Greater Atlanta along with a $2M contribution from the City.

How will this be important? It is an innovative solution to the pervasive economic insecurity and income inequality.
