Decades Ago New Hires Removed from Pension. They’re Back

What’s happening? Decades ago New Jersey removed new hires and some local governmental entities from he state pension system. Now the state is considering adding them back.

Why is this important? Itis a compounding of scenarios. (1) The Governor has promised that the state will make its first full funding payment to the pension in 25 years. (2) A fiscal note on one of the bills says it will save money based on pension accounting and administrative costs (3) Federal COVID dollars may mean more contributions

How will this be important? If successful, will other states take note
