Gaming definition in Texas

A recent Texas Attorney General Opinion adds fodder to the discussion of what is and is not gambling in Texas. The opinion was requested by Senator Hall and asks about whether machines that are a combination of skill and chance are within the definition of gambling. The answer is yes the machines constitute gambling if chance plays “any role in deterring whether the player receives something of value, regardless of the pretense of skill.”
