Lege TREND. Expanding a Lottery Commission to Include Sports Betting

Virginia SB 1356 (VA | 2019) would:

• expand VA’s current Lottery Commission to include sports betting
• Permit betting on youth and collegiate sports outside the state of VA
• The state commission would operate its own facility
• The lottery would allow for online platform but would NOT permit online sports betting
• 95% of the revenue generated would be general revenue
