Lege Trend: Taxpayer Pay Act

Mississippi Lt. Gov. has a tax plan to phase out its franchise tax. The plan is called the Taxpayer Pay Act. Here’s what it does:

• Phase Out Franchise Tax (following the footsteps of WV & PA)
•  Tax relief for self-employed taxpayers
• Income tax cut for the first $5,000 of income

The Taxpayer Pay Act goals are:

• Make the state more competitive
• Foster economic growth
• Keep taxpayer dollars with the taxpayers
