New interim executive director of Pharr Economic Development Corporation

Sergio Contreras is the new interim director of Pharr Economic Development Corporation. He supports regional cooperation.

His background:

• Born and raised in Alamo, Texas.
• Worked for AT&T for 20 years, rising to the position of director of external affairs.
• Currently serves on the board of directors for:
  • the Rio Grande Valley Partnership
  •  the Border Trade Alliance
  • the Alliance for I-69
  • and the PSJA Foundation.
• He has served on the boards of:
  • Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce
  • San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  • Laredo Chamber of Commerce
  • Brownsville Chamber of Commerce
  • McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  • Alamo/San Juan Boys and Girls Club
