Phoenix Cannabis Revenue Numbers

What is happening? AZ has had legalized cannabis for a year and the revenue numbers are in from its 16% excise tax.

Why is this important? IN 1 year, Phoenix cannabis revenue is:

• $17.1 million for Phoenix’s Maricopa Community College District (a 33% share)
• statewide $513.5 million was spent on marijuana in 2021
• Revenue is further appropriated to municipal police and fire districts (31.4%), the Highway User Fund (25.4%), the Justice Reinvestment Fund (10%) and 0.2% to the attorney general

How will this be important? Revenue estimators predict similar returns in future years.
