limits the allowed use of deadly force
requires an officer to intervene if a colleague is inappropriately using excessive force

New York is considering a package of bills that will:

prohibit the use of chokeholds
classify some false 911 calls as hate crimes
clarify a right to videotape arrests
require police officers to file reports when they discharge their weapons
require police departments to start compiling data on the demographic breakdown of those they charge
permit the release of police officers’ disciplinary records
