state bank for affordable housing

Massachusetts has created the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank, a green bank dedicated to funding affordable housing. Funded with $50 million in state funds and designed to maximize investment in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the building sector. The goal is to attract private and federal funding to retrofit buildings following the state’s long-term climate objectives and funding new construction of decarbonized buildings. While the initial focus will be affordable housing and promoting an equitable energy transition and to meet the needs of environmental justice populations, the state looks to fund other projects in the future.
