We’ve talked about Heat Officers in Florida and Arizona to mitigate the health, property, and economic damages related to heat. Nevada is considering a statewide heat office. In 2024, 527 died related to heat related causes in the state.

As a step to a statewide heat office, the state enacted Assembly Bill 96 which requires local governments with more than 10,000 people in their communities to consider the costs associated with heat in their planning.
