Triggered tax cuts

Oklahoma has proposed a triggered tax cut with HB 1359 (2025 | OK) The bill will reduce the state personal income tax rate by 0.25% every time the state’s revenue grows by $300 million cumulatively compared to a baseline year. Opponents say the triggered tax cut proposal binds the hands of future budget writers.

Oklahoma tried this before in 2016 but didn’t account for inflation or population growth. Ooopsy daisy. They also tried in 2009.
