TX A.G. Opinion: Salaries for Candidates that ran to dissolve the Candidate’s Office

What is happening? Section 152.052 of the Texas Local Government Code roughly says if a candidate ran on a platform of dissolving the office they seek, then they get no salary if they win.

Why is this important? There’s some uncertainty as to the constitutionality and whether there are conflicting intent requirements, the nerdy stuff that ruffles the feathers of free wheeling campaigning. Or, reality vs. campaign euphoria.

How will this be important? Facts have long been irrelevant in politics. Whether this continues with this A.G. opinion could make things very interesting.
