Company’s Building Workers Houses

What is happening? In what sounds like mid 1900s, company town images, companies in 2022 are building homes for workers when housing supplies are in short supply.

Why is this important? The Wall Street Journal tells us a story of a women in Cactus Texas looking for housing in her price range per her employer. She can’t find anything. So her employer, JBS, stops in. JBS has a program that helps workers build new homes. Disney and medical-devices maker Cook Group  are doing the same.

How will this be important? Companies want to attract and retain talent. Helping their employees get into housing of their choice near their work is a win-win.
