We talked about the public-private partnership in Philadelphia that sought o help with food deserts by planting fruit trees. Now we’ll talk about the plan to plant food forests in San Antonio. Not only will the fruit bearing trees provide fresh fruit to local residents the planting of additional trees cleans and cools the air. The two projects represent a partnership between the city’s Metropolitan Health District and its Parks and Recreation Department, and the Food Policy Council of San Antonio, the city’s Office of Innovation and Bexar County’s Parks and Recreation Department, respectively.
