New Nashville Library Card: I Read Banned Books

What is happening? Nashville Public Library’s Freedom to Read campaign includes allowing Nashvillians to turn in their library cards for library cards that read: “I read banned books.”

Why is this important? The Library acted in direct response to a member of the Tennessee Legislature suggesting that banned books should be burned.

How will this be important? As a gut check- there are books about what happens when you ban books. But burning books act the stake…. uh, what?
