Poll: Are women treated fairly in the US?
What’s happening? Gallup released a poll on the treatment of women in the U.S. Here we go with this ball of fun:
- 53% overall Americans are very or somewhat satisfied with the treatment of women in society (A RECORD LOW)
- overall 44% of women are satisfied
- overall 61% of men say women are treated fairly
- 33% of women say they have equal job opportunities
- 61% of men think women have equal job opportunities
Why is this important? As a writer who was interviewed said, “It’s not only that women aren’t treated well. Sometimes we’re invisible,”
How will this be important? The deviations among women will be telling:
- 46% of white women said they were satisfied with women’s treatment
- 38% of Black women agreed
- 43% of Hispanic women agreed
- 72% of Republican women were satisfied
- 32% of Democratic women
Washington Post | U.S. women are largely dissatisfied with how they’re treated. Most men don’t see a problem.
