Recycled Aluminum: A Future Energy Storage Option?

What happens with renewable energy when the weather does not cooperate?

1. Diesel generators are used as a backup but this creates more carbon emissions.
2. Power can be stored in batteries but the batteries require rare earth minerals.

Who’s working on a solution? 

Swedish energy startup, Azelio uses recycled aluminum to store energy in the form of heat. The company says is its energy storage has a 90% round-trip efficiency.
