The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute has begun using a traffic collision mannequin that is proportioned with narrower shoulders and wider hips. Before, crash testers used “male” dummies that were simply smaller. Why is this important? A 2019 study from the University of Virginia found that “women are 73% more likely than men to be injured in the event of a frontal collision.” @npr
