Polestar: the competition 

• launched in 2017 with a plug-in hybrid called the Polestar 1, which has the longest electric range of any hybrid
• owned by Volvo Car Group and Chinese auto giant Zhejiang Geely Holding
• Sweden-based
• released the all-electric Polestar 2 last year and plans to develop a fully electric SUV in the near future

Polestar’s goals

Vehicle sustainability is about more than all-electric or hybrid capabilities. Recently released plans to incorporate natural fibers and 3-D knit fabrics to achieve a 50% reduction in weight and 80% reduction in plastic for their vehicles.
