State Fashion Sustainability Laws

What’s happening? NY is considering AB8352 (2022 | NY), the Fashion sustainability and social accountability act. According to the BBC, “the fashion industry accounts for about 10% of global carbon emissions and nearly 20% of wastewater.”

Why is this important? N Y would become the first state to require all fashion brands to disclose their climate and social impact. It would apply to any brand that has more than $100 million in revenues and does business in New York.

How will this be important? In addition to wage reporting it would require transparency for fashion supply chains.
