State Uses Cannabis Revenue for Grants

What’s the deal? Illinois awarded $31.5 million in grants to revitalize neighborhoods devastated by violence, poverty and the war on drugs. Grants are being given to violence prevention, legal aid and reentry for those convicted of crimes.

Why should we care? Let’s call COVID the precursor to Feel Good times. Treating your community like you want to be treated is here to stay.

How can this impact me? Think about the process this sets up- legalize and tax something, cannabis in this case, and then dedicate a portion of the tax revenue from what you legalized to build communities. It is like paying it forward by paying it backwards.
