Study: Consumers Concerned about Sustainability

The Study:

Globe Scan’s Healthy & Sustainable Living Consumer Insights study surveyed 25,000 people across 25 countries. It was designed and launched with corporate partners such as IKEA, PepsiCo, Visa, and VF Corporation. 

Approximately 50% of American respondents consider each of the following issues to be “very serious”:

  • environment/pollution 
  • depletion of natural resources 
  • climate change
  • loss of biodiversity 
  • fresh water storage

American Thoughts on Sustainability:

  • 4 in 10 respondents say it is important for them to live in a way that is healthy for them and good for the environment. 
  • 6% of all consumers claim to be living a completely healthy/sustainable lifestyle.
  • Gen Z Americans are more concerned about environmental issues than older counterparts

American Obstacles to Sustainable Living: 

  • 58% state sustainable options are “too expensive”
  • 35% like they way they are living now, though not younger generations
  • a stated lack of support and information from government/brands
