Surveillance of employee emotions

Meet “emotion AI” or “affective computing.” These new tools “monitor an employee through their company devices to draw conclusions on their attitude and morale in the workplace.” It scrapes through Zoom, Teams, and more. This AI is based on the largely de-bunked psychology work of Paul Ekman’s Theory of basic emotions.

What’s the goal of this AI? Looking for “sentiment and toxicity.” This feels like the new version of your parents reading your teenage diary. Experts say AI cannot objectively interpret the variables of human emotions.
