Swiss climate action
In 2015 the country was the first in the world to submit to the U.N. a formal climate change plan that would reduce emissions 50% below 1990 levels by 2030.
Updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC)
The U.N. seeks countries to submit stronger NDC’s detailing methods to achieve the Paris Climate Agreement goals. Currently most submitted NDC’s map out plans for 2025 or 2030 goals.
Swiss plan details to be released in December 2020
Details on how the country will meet the 2050 goal are expected after the Swiss parliament updates its key piece of climate legislation, the CO2 Act.
