What happens when a company goes from open employee communication to closed?

What is happening? Netflix had a policy that allowed all employees to pose questions to the Chief Executives and to receive open and honest answers. The days of brutal honesty are over after the Dave Chappelle comedy special which became a political and societal lightening rod for appropriate and inappropriate humor.

Why is this important? The issue has been framed as ” where does Netflix draw the line between commentary and hate speech?”

How will this be important? The management philosophy at Netflix had been ” laying out their management philosophy: lead with context, not control; don’t hire brilliant jerks; and, most crucially, always be honest.” Then a pivot to include artistic freedom and ““If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”” More so, what are business headlines saying about Netflix and its growth? Is there a correlation?
