What:

  • 3.25 % surcharge on individual rideshare rides
  • 1.5% tax on shared rides or for zero-emissions vehicles
  • Begins January 2020 & sunsets in 2045

Passage rate: 67% of voters approved

Revenue potential: $35 million split between the Traffic Congestion Mitigation Fund & the San Francisco County Transportation Authority

Background: The surcharge is a negotiated position between the City and Ride Share. The ride share companies favored the surcharge over an increase in their tax rate.
