Conscientious consumerism isn’t new

 I admit my surprise to learn that conscientious consumerism, ethical consumers, aren’t new to the U.S.  Instead, they date back to colonial times when people wouldn’t buy goods or products from slave owners. Conscientious consumerism grew in the 20th century when consumers took into consideration environmental concerns and worker treatment.
